Toilet installation and plumbing fixtures
Toilet installation, toilet replacement, bathroom-sink connections and faucet installation all depend on the existing water supply, drain, venting and available space. We check compatibility before installation, then test every accessible connection and the fixture’s operation.

Leak after installationThe seal, flange, trap, valves or connections need to be checked.
Choose the right intervention
Install, replace or repair?
A running toilet does not automatically need replacement. On the other hand, a new fixture will not correct a damaged closet flange, a seized shut-off valve or a drain in the wrong position. The first step is separating a fixture problem from a problem in the plumbing that serves it.
Complete installation or replacement
The old fixture is removed when required, the connection points are inspected, and the new model is installed, adjusted and tested. Footprint, measurements and compatibility are reviewed before it is set in place.
Plan for: model details, dimensions, access and removal of the old fixture.A targeted repair may be enough
A fill valve, flapper, shut-off valve, supply connector, faucet cartridge, trap or accessible seal can often be repaired when the fixture itself remains in acceptable condition.
Check first: the precise source of the leak and availability of replacement parts. The rough plumbing must be adapted
Moving a toilet, adding a bathroom sink or converting a tub area to a shower may require changes to water, drainage and venting before the plumbing fixture installation can begin.
Confirm first: plans, permits, structure and access to concealed piping.Bathrooms, powder rooms and kitchens
Plumbing fixture installation with every connection checked.
“Plumbing fixtures” covers several different products. We define the scope fixture by fixture, distinguishing a direct installation on existing plumbing from a project that alters pipes, walls, a vanity, a countertop or the finished floor.
Toilet installation
Installation of a one-piece or two-piece toilet, including the water connection, seal at the closet flange, levelling, fastening and flush tests. “WC installation” describes the same service, but “toilet” is the normal customer-facing term in Canadian English.
Toilet replacement
Removal of the old toilet, review of the flange and shut-off valve, preparation of the surface, installation of the new model and checks for leaks at the tank, supply and base.
Bathroom sink and vanity
Connection of the sink, faucet, valves, trap and drain when the vanity, countertop and openings are compatible with the selected fixture and its technical requirements.
Kitchen sink and faucet
Installation of a sink or compatible replacement, including strainer, trap, water supply and faucet connections. A dishwasher and accessories are considered when they share the same assembly.
Shower base and bathtub
Connection of the agreed faucet components, drain and overflow. A moved tub or a new shower requires broader coordination than replacing one fixture at the same prepared location.
Residential and commercial fixtures
Toilets, sinks and faucets for homes, condos, multiplexes and commercial spaces, planned around usage, access, water shutdowns and the building’s requirements.
A clean installation starts before arrival
Compatibility first. Watertight through the final test.
A successful toilet installation depends as much on the closet flange and shut-off valve as it does on the new toilet. For a bathroom sink, kitchen sink, shower or bathtub, measurements, openings and existing connections matter just as much.
Before ordering, send the model specification sheet, dimensions and photos of the existing connections. This does not replace an on-site assessment, but it reduces the risk of ordering an incompatible fixture or arriving without a required component.
- 01
Define the fixture and scope
New installation, same-location replacement, repair or rough-plumbing alteration: the scope is clarified before scheduling labour, parts and related work.
- 02
Check measurements and connections
Toilet rough-in, clearances, drain size, valves, outlet height, countertop openings, overflow and manufacturer instructions are compared with the existing conditions.
- 03
Shut off water and remove the old fixture
The area is protected, the water is isolated and the old fixture is removed within the agreed scope. Concealed surfaces and connections can then be inspected.
- 04
Correct conditions that would compromise the work
A cracked flange, seized valve, misaligned drain, uneven floor or unsuitable trap is identified before proceeding with the new fixture.
- 05
Install, connect and test
The fixture is secured without stress, connections are assembled, water is restored and repeated operating cycles check watertightness, drainage and stability.
The same fixture can mean two different scopes
Same-location replacement or plumbing alteration?
Cost and timing change most when existing connections do not match the new fixture. A photograph of the finished product does not show the plumbing concealed behind the wall or below the floor.
The new fixture uses the existing connections
The new toilet matches the rough-in and clearances, or the new sink aligns with the valves and drain. The scope stays focused on removal, installation and testing.
- Fewer finished surfaces opened
- Compatibility checked before installation
- Related work generally limited
Pipes or finished surfaces must change
Moving the fixture, building a new powder room or choosing an incompatible format may require rough plumbing, access and restoration, coordination with other trades and municipal approvals.
- Water, drainage and venting reviewed
- Access behind finished surfaces planned
- Scope confirmed before a final price is promised
Service adapted to the building and municipality
Plumbing fixture installation in Laval, the North Shore and Montréal.
A direct toilet replacement in a Laval house is planned differently from a new powder room in a Montréal multiplex or a shared water shutdown in a North Shore condo. Building age, access, condominium rules, existing plumbing and the renovation scope determine what must be checked.
In Laval, service includes properties in Chomedey, Sainte-Dorothée, Laval-des-Rapides, Vimont, Duvernay and the other covered sectors. On the North Shore, requests include Terrebonne, Mascouche, Repentigny, Blainville, Boisbriand, Sainte-Thérèse, Saint-Eustache and Mirabel. In Montréal, the building type and borough process are checked for the specific address.

What affects toilet installation cost?
The selected model is only one factor. A useful estimate identifies removal, connection components, corrections discovered after removal, testing and any work assigned to another trade.
Fixture type
One-piece toilet, two-piece toilet, sink, faucet, shower or bathtub each requires different handling and connections.
Compatibility
Rough-in, clearances, height, diameter, openings and connection positions determine whether installation is direct.
Condition of connections
The flange, shut-off valve, trap, water supply and drain may require repair or replacement.
Removal and handling
Weight, stairs, access, surface protection and removal of the old fixture affect labour.
Plumbing alterations
Moving a fixture or creating a new water point turns a direct installation into a rough-plumbing project.
Related finishing work
Cabinetry, countertops, tile, drywall, paint, flooring and electrical work must be clearly included or excluded.

Questions before purchase or installation
Decide with the right measurements.
The model, condition of the existing connections and actual scope determine the right intervention. These answers cover common questions before toilet installation or another plumbing fixture installation.
24/7 PLUMBING EMERGENCY450-241-0488How much does toilet installation cost?
Cost depends on the model, removal of the old toilet, condition of the flange and shut-off valve, required connection parts, access and disposal. If the rough-in or drain must be altered, the scope changes.
How long does it take to install a toilet?
A compatible replacement can be completed in a focused visit, but a responsible duration cannot be guaranteed without seeing the flange, valve, floor and drain. A correction discovered after removal can extend the work.
Can I purchase the new toilet myself?
Yes, provided the model fits the rough-in, clearances, water connection and intended use. Keep all parts, the specification sheet and packaging until installation is complete and tested.
What should I measure before buying a toilet?
Confirm the distance from the finished wall to the centre of the drain, side clearances, available depth, desired seat height and location of the water supply. Baseboard and trim are not the finished-wall reference point.
Are toilet installation and WC installation the same service?
Yes. WC means water closet. “Toilet” is the standard customer-facing term in Canadian English, while technical documents may also use water closet or W.C.
Should a toilet that rocks be reinstalled?
It should be checked promptly. Movement can compromise the seal and may indicate an uneven floor, poor fastening or a damaged flange. Stop using it if water appears around the base.
Why is there water around the base of the toilet?
Water can come from the flange seal, tank, bolts, supply connection, condensation or a crack. Wiping it up without identifying the source may allow damage to continue beneath the flooring.
Should I choose a one-piece or two-piece toilet?
Either can work. Compare dimensions, weight, access, height, internal mechanism, replacement-part availability, cleaning and budget. Fit with the room and rough-in matters more than appearance alone.
Do you also install bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks and faucets?
Yes, when the scope and connections are confirmed. For a new vanity or countertop, dimensions, openings, valves and drainage must be coordinated with the supplier and the other work.
Does the plumber repair tile, cabinetry or drywall?
Those items are not automatically part of plumbing fixture installation. Any opening or restoration of tile, countertops, cabinetry, drywall, paint or flooring should be identified clearly in the scope before work starts.
Is a permit required to replace a plumbing fixture?
A direct replacement and a project that moves pipes or creates a new bathroom do not have the same scope. Check the project with the municipality or borough and, where applicable, the condominium syndicate.
What should be planned in a condo or multiplex?
Confirm the shut-off valve, access to common spaces, approved work hours, notice to occupants, protection of shared areas and the rules of the syndicate or property owner. A shared water shutdown must be coordinated.
Do you serve Laval, the North Shore and Montréal?
Yes, within the covered service area. The address, building type, fixture, scope, urgency, access and availability are confirmed before the visit is scheduled.
